First, news broke that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel were feuding on set during the filming of Fast 8. The outcry was so intense that it compelled the Rock to address the drama on Instagram, chalking the whole thing up to “differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs” between the cast and crew of Fast 8, who he likens to a “family.”
Now, a photo of the Fast 8 cast has been released, and it’s no surprise that the Rock and Diesel aren’t exactly swinging their arms around each other in a friendly embrace.
In what sounds like the last post we’ll see from the Fast & Furious franchise’s official Facebook page for a minute, the “Fast Family” offers up sentiments that echo those of The Rock’s positive message with a snapshot taken in the final days of shooting.
Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Kristofer Hivju (TORMUND!), Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and Nathalie Emmanuel are all smiles, as are The Rock and Diesel — who’ve got half the cast standing between them. Body language speaks louder than words, and this shot says plenty about the state of things on set and how they want to move past the skirmish.
The note they posted along with the photo is one with a unifying vibe, and refers to Diesel as the driver of the franchise, saying that he’s “been at the wheel” of the Fast & Furious machine from the jump as a star before he joined the crew as a producer. It also hints at the drop of a “first look” of the film in December, so read up on what we know about the next addition to the Fast & Furious franchise in the meantime.
